It started as a joke, but now one man wants to own every VHS copy of Speed on the planet.  Why?  Yeah, he doesn't really answer that question.  He, as in Ryan Beitz from Moscow, Idaho.

"...I'm never giving up. I can't stop my whole life because I'll never know. So, I'll die looking for Speed."  Said Beitz(I think I'd think more of him if he was talking about ACTUAL speed...)

He started the project in '07 and has 550 copies so far.  He's had donations from all over world and plans to take his quest to the streets and "...get a van fixed up and painted like the bus from the movie Speed. It's so we can travel the country, come to your town and get copies of Speed.”

No matter what others think, Ryan believes his Speed collection is helping the world. “No one ever really knows if the work they're doing is making the world a better place or not, but they don't give up.  That's how Speed works. We just have to keep going no matter what.”

There's no word on what Ryan plans to do when he has every copy of Speed, but if it includes a giant pile, a gas can and a torch, I have a copy I'm ready to donate.  If you'd like to donate yours, here's the link.  And if you'd like to learn more on how to deep his obsession for Speed has become, here's the rest of the story.
