Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man was left unconscious for a period of time after he apparently interrupted a burglary and was attacked by at least one intruder in his home early Wednesday morning. The 39-year-old victim told Rochester police he was struck from behind with an unknown object when he returned to his house in the 3600 block of 4th Place Northwest after taking his dog for a walk.

A statement released by the police department says the man was repeatedly struck by a blunt object on his head and body and suffered significant knife wounds to his arm and hand. In fact, the knife was still in the man’s hand when officers arrived at the residence in the Country Club Manor neighborhood around 7 AM.

Investigators are asking anyone living in the area or anyone who was driving or walking in that area between 6 and 7 AM to contact the police department if they saw anything suspicious. Specifically, investigators are especially interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen a white U-Haul pickup truck in the area.
