Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office has completed its investigation into criminal allegations involving a Rochester police officer who committed suicide in December.

Officer Mitchell Jenson shot himself in the head after being placed on leave due to allegations of sexual misconduct that occurred while he was off duty.

Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson says the investigative reports have been sealed because of their sensitive nature. Torgerson says “ we will never have the full story “ because investigators were unable to get statements from Jenson. The Sheriff’s Office was asked to investigate to avoid a conflict of interest.

Jenson served 24 years in the Marine Corps and then joined the Rochester Police Department in February 2010, working as a patrol officer. During his employment with the Rochester Police Department, Jenson received several letters of appreciation and awards, including being named a two-time Minnesota DWI All-Star. He was married and the father of an adult son and teenage daughter.
