Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The month of July was a little cooler and wetter than normal in the Rochester area.

The National Weather Service reports the average temperature last month was 1.9 degrees below normal at 69.5 degrees. The hottest day of the month was July 13th when the mercury climbed to 89 degrees, while the coolest temperature reading was 50 degrees on July 2nd.

The precipitation total last month was just under 5 inches and was about 4-tenths of an inch above normal. The largest 24 hour rainfall total was 1.67 inches at the Rochester Airport. Most of the rain falling during the morning of July 28th, which set a new rainfall record for that date.

The wettest period during the month was the 16th through the 18th, when the city received almost 2 and a quarter inches of rain.
