Did you know that more dogs are reported lost on the fourth of July 4th than on any other day?

Topdogtips.com provided these tips to keep your dog safe this holiday weekend:

1.  Keep your pets as far away from fireworks as possible. Dogs and cats are both super  sensitive to loud noises so fireworks can be traumatizing for them.  Leave your pets indoors and leave a TV on to mask the sound of fireworks going off.

2.  Put their collar on. The American Humane Society says July 5th is the busiest day of the year for animal shelters. Pets get scared and run away on the fourth.  Make sure they're easy to I.D. so they can be returned immediately.

3. People food is for people not pets. Don't throw your dog leftovers from the BBQ. Its something they are not used to and could easily make them choke.

4.  Keep your dog away from things it might not be used to that will be out this weekend. Things like lighter fluid and matches.
