Two people, a driver, and passenger from Kenyon were injured in an early Sunday morning collision in Dodge County.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened just after midnight on County Road 13, just South of County Road 4, in rural Hayfield.

The pair, Jeffry Ellingson and Kim Ellingson, from rural Kenyon, were injured when they struck a horse in the road. The impact of the crash caused the horse to go through the windshield, and into the vehicle they were driving.

The pair were taken to Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester. The Ellingsons were seen and released the same day.

The horse, a bay mare, was killed in the collision. The Dodge County Sheriff's Office was initially trying to identify the owner by posting the incident report on their Facebook page. The horse's owner, Rodney McKenzie of rural Kasson, was tracked down by late Sunday morning.
