Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A local man with a long criminal history ended up behind bars again over the weekend, thanks to a high tech device.

An Olmsted County patrol deputy was parked near Rochester Saturday evening when his license plate reader pinged as a car drove past. The activated device indicated the vehicle had been reported stolen from Chatfield. The deputy went after the car and pulled it over.

The man driving the car admitted he stole it. 29-year-old Cody Haakenson told the deputy he needed a ride and found a car with the keys in the ignition on a Chatfield street Friday. The deputy also found some meth and stolen property in the car.
