A teacher's job is in jeopardy, and former students are not having it. A petition has been signed by hundreds showing their support for the history teacher.

According to the petition, Mr. Scott Kromminga was recorded by a student "quietly saying an expletive in the classroom while walking away."

Plainview-Elgin-Millville grad Megan Dahling started the petition saying "while none of us condone the use of this language at the school or in the work place, how many times have we all make this mistake? We are all human, and disregarding his successes and efforts as a teacher because of this is unacceptable."

Mr. Kromminga has been a teacher for 23 years, with 19 of those years at P-E-M.

A school board meeting will be held on Monday, December 12th at 6:00 pm to discuss the incident.

What former students are saying on Facebook:

"Mr. Kromminga is one of the greatest teachers the school has ever had" - Leda.

"He is one of the great teachers that had a huge impact on my life" - Elizabeth.

"One minor mistake should not dictate a long respected career" - Ryan.

"He is an educator that not only instills a love of history in his students, but also a drive to be a better person" - Laci.

"Mr. Kromminga was an excellent teacher, wanting to teach true politics and history, not just the stuff found in a text book" - Jessica.

"It would be a significant loss for the school and its students if he were to go" - Jay.
