Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The new Lourdes High School Girl’s Hockey program now has a coaching staff. The Rochester Catholic Schools has announced the Lourdes Athletics Department has named Jeff True as head coach of the program. His assistant coach will be Laura Vennelli for the team’s upcoming inaugural season.

True has served an assistant coach for the Lourdes Varsity Boy’s Hockey program the past four seasons and is the current Commissioner of the Rochester Adult Hockey League. The school says Vanelli has over a decade of coaching experience and is currently an Assistant Varsity and Junior Varsity Coach for Holy Angels Academy in Richfield.

Marv Peters, longtime Lourdes Athletic Director of 40 years, said "We are very fortunate to find two qualified coaches to spearhead our new girls’ hockey program. Their experience, dedication, and devotion to the sport will help guide us through our first year and the many more to follow."

Lourdes just ended its girl’s hockey program cooperative agreement with John Marshall and the Rochester School District. The Rochester School Board voted last June to end the hockey arrangement, and phase out lacrosse and wrestling co-op teams with Lourdes over the next couple years. Beginning this fall, Lourdes will join forces with the Dover-Eyota school district through a new cooperative agreement. The two school systems currently have a partnership for boy’s hockey.
