Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was taken to St Marys Hospital early Friday after he was assaulted and robbed behind a downtown bar.

Police officers were called to the Top Shots bar around 12:30 a.m. and found the unconscious man outside the rear door.

Witnesses who called 911 told the officers they saw a man punch the victim, who fell to the ground and hit his head. They say the man continued to punch the victim before going through his pockets and running off with his cellphone.

When the victim came to, he told officers he had been talking with three men he apparently knows when one of them punched him.

Police say the 37-year-old had visible head and facial injuries and may have suffered a concussion.

The victim is a large man, 6-2 and 300 pounds. The man who assaulted him was described as 5-11 with a thin build.
