Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Austin man who was wounded in a police-involved shooting last week has been discharged from St. Mary’s Hospital.

A statement issued Monday by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension indicates 25-year-old Edgar Rodriguez is currently an inmate in the Mower County jail.

The BCA has also released the name of the officer who shot Rodriguez last Wednesday night. Officer Adam Scott has been with the Austin Police Department for about six months.

Officials had previously said officer Scott shot the man during a high-speed chase in Austin, which saw speeds reach 70 miles per hour in residential neighborhoods. The BCA’s initial statement about the incident indicated Rodriguez had been cornered by police, but managed to get away when he put the stolen car he was driving in reverse and rammed the officer’s squad car, prompting him to open fire. Even though he had been wounded by the gunfire, Rodriguez kept going until a Mower County Deputy performed a so-called PIT maneuver that brought the chase to an end.

The BCA is still investigating the shooting and will forward its findings to the Olmsted County Attorney for review once it is completed.
