Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police are looking for a man who threatened to kill another man during an apparently random encounter that occurred while he was leaving a grocery store with his two young children Monday afternoon.

Police Captain John Sherwin says the 47-year-old victim, along with his 4 and 7-year-old sons, were carrying their groceries out of the HyVee North Store around 4 PM when a stranger approached them swearing and threatening to “blow his head off.” The man told police he quickly got his children into their vehicle and called 911 before the man left in a maroon colored truck.

Sherwin says the man also supplied officers with a license plate number and they believe the person responsible is a man with a history of mental illness.
