Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Rochester police investigators are reporting an attempted robbery with an unusual twist - a digital note.

A spokesman says a man entered the south Perkins restaurant around 1:30 Tuesday morning and set his cellphone on the counter near the cash register.

The cashier noted a message on the phone that indicated the would-be thief wanted her to give him the money in the till. When the employee told the man she could not open the register, he picked up his phone and walked out.

It’s believed he drove off in a silver-colored Pontiac Grand AM.

The man did not display a weapon..
