If you know my family, you know we don't like to sit still, every weekend is a new adventure. This past weekend we loaded up the car and went to check out the Kiwanis Holiday Lights in Mankato.

Sibley Park in Mankato is decorated with over 1.5 million LED lights. The lights are hung throughout the entire park - on trees, fences and buildings. There are also several themed displays - our kids loved the 'Minions' and Mickey and Minnie Mouse decorations.

Visitors have the option of driving or walking through the exhibit.

Last year we drove and were extremely disappointed. We waited in a line of cars for 45 minutes and it only took about 10 minutes to complete the drive. This year we decided to walk. We got there about a half an hour before it opened and were able to park right in the front. We were also first in line to meet Santa. To our surprise, Santa gave our kids presents. After meeting with him we took off around the park. The walkways are lit up and easy to follow and you can spend as much time in the park as you want.

I highly recommend walking through the park for maximum enjoyment.

Other attractions include live Holiday music on Saturday and Sundays and Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides.

Admission is free, but this is a fundraiser for the Mankato Kiwanis Club, so please consider making a donation. They are collecting non-perishable food but will also accept cash.
