Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - There will be even more work at Mayo Clinic’s St. Mary's Hospital campus over the next several years.

Construction-related activity has been ongoing at the campus the past few years and Thursday, Mayo announced several new expansion and renovation projects at the site.

The cost is in excess of $200 million.

Work on the projects is scheduled to begin this year and be completed within five years.

Among the projects:

Adding three floors to the Generose Building, expanding its size by more than 150,000 square feet

The fit out of the East Tower's 7-10 floors, allowing the relocation of 78 beds from the Joseph Building

The relocation of the cardiac surgery unit from the first floor to the third level of the East Tower.

An expansion of Mary Brigh East on the St. Mary's campus was announced in 2013. It called for the addition of five floors on top of the four levels that were still under construction at the time.

“This project not only demonstrates Mayo Clinic’s commitment to our mission, but also our commitment to the future growth of Rochester,” says John Noseworthy, M.D., president and CEO of Mayo Clinic. “With this significant investment, we will increase Mayo’s capacity to provide the best possible care for our patients and also create jobs and economic growth in Rochester and the region.”
