Mayo Clinic doctors just published a report about a Wisconsin woman who came to hospital with a bad knee infection.  The infection was the result of flossing too much!?!?

She apparently flossed so much that her gums were very fragile and constantly bleeding. Bacteria got in through her gums then traveled through her blood stream. She had previously had a knee replacement which meant that area of her body was weak and susceptible to infection.

Doctors were able to open up her knee and remove a lot of the bacteria. They followed up by prescribing her antibiotics. She's now doing fine.

They say it's the first case where over-flossing caused an infection in a joint replacement in the U.S. It has happened before in other parts of the world.
