Republican Sen. Mike Goggin and Democratic Rep. Todd Lippert have proposed a bill to assist farmers in selling their locally grown food into Minnesota schools so students have healthy food options through a farm-to-school initiative.

There would be multiple benefits of this bill going through: The kids will have access to healthier foods that are also locally grown. This will provide a good base for a lifetime of healthier eating habits.

Also, local farmers would be supported. With schools buying food from local farmers it allows them to "grow their business and invest money back into the community." KTTC also reports that, according to the National Farm to School Network, "every dollar invested in farm-to-school programs generates $2.16 for the local economy."

Do you agree with this proposed bill?
