Minnesotans who also need to transfer titles or complete other transactions should be aware of limited services starting Monday, July 17, through July 24.

The state Driver and Vehicle Services Division (DVS) will be upgrading and replacing its 30-year-old vehicle services computer system. Because of this, they have issued a list of services and when they'll be impacted.

According to the Star Tribune, from July 17-24, online vehicle tab renewal and other DVS online services will be unavailable. Customers renewing their July tabs online will need to do so before July 17 to allow time for their new stickers to arrive in the mail.

From July 20-24, Minnesota residents won’t be able to update their tabs, get a new license plate or apply for a vehicle title at Driver and Vehicle Services offices around the state. Driver’s license, permit or identification card renewal and application services will be available; however, some offices may have different hours or be closed.

Finally on July 22, driver’s license services will also be unavailable. Most DVS and deputy registrar offices will be closed on this date.

DPS-DVS says once the new system is in place, turnaround time for title transactions will be reduced and vehicle record information will be updated in real time.
