Minnesota Town Receives More than Two Feet of Snow

Undated (KROC AM News) – A small town near Brainerd apparently took the honor of most snowfall from the major winter storm that hit Minnesota Friday. And there may be more on the way.

The National Weather Service says a trained spotter near the town of Leader reported 25 inches of snow on the ground Saturday morning. A spotter near the town of Orr in the northeastern part of the state reported 24.8 inches.

Numerous cities in the storm zone reported more than a foot of snow.  It will likely still be there in many areas all next week as temperatures are not expected to get above freezing before Thanksgiving.

Rochester recorded just a trace of snow but did receive some rain. It wasn’t much, only .12 of an inch but it was the first recorded precipitation this month.

Forecasters are keeping an eye on another system that may affect Minnesota Wednesday, a busy getaway day for many Minnesotans who are headed to their Thanksgiving Day destination.
