BENSON, Minn. (AP) — Swift County sheriff's officials say all students at a Benson elementary school are safe after a kindergartner brought a gun to school.

Sheriff John Holtz says other students at Northside Elementary became aware of the firearm Tuesday morning and notified a teacher. The gun was confiscated. Authorities say there was no apparent intent by the kindergartener to cause any harm.

Swift County Monitor-News reports that the school district has a zero tolerance for weapons, but the superintendent has discretion in determining a course of action for the student.
