Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was recently sentenced to 27 months in prison for a burglary conviction stemming from a bizarre series of incidents last summer.

27-year-old David Collier admitted to a third degree burglary charge through plea agreement that led to the dismissal of four misdemeanor counts, including indecent exposure and fleeing police.

Collier was taken into custody last June 25th after officers were called to a business in the 2400 block of North Broadway after a man walked into the building, began yelling and then left. Minutes later, police received a call from a nearby homeowner about a shirtless man urinating in the middle of the street. The man, who was completely naked by the time officers arrived, ran into a nearby house occupied by an elderly man and woman who told police the intruder had gone into the bathroom and turned on the shower.

Collier was initially taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for a mental evaluation, and he was formerly charged about two months later.

Collier was already well known to local law enforcement officials. Several weeks before his arrest last June he pleaded guilty to a felony charge connected to a 15 mile long high-speed chase in a stolen pickup that ended when a State Trooper fired three shots into the vehicle after Collier crashed head-on into a State Patrol vehicle and then tried to ram the driver’s door of another squad car.
