Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - All the demolition and dirt-moving in Rochester in recent months has led to a surge in new construction permits.

Through the end of October, the city Building Safety Dept had approved more than 2300 permits for new construction projects.

The valuation of the permits was put at $438-million. That’s only $5-million lower than the total from all of last year. The city’s highest total on record was set in 2015 at $484-million.

Homebuilders stayed busy in October as they took out 36 permits for new single family homes. The total through the end of October was 365.
