The Rochester Salvation Army has released the results of its annual Christmas fundraising drive and they show another record was set.  The 2014 drive received donations of just over $1.2 million. A fourth of that came from the Red Kettle campaign that was conducted in November and December.

The totals exceeded the 2014 goals of $400,000 for kettles and $1.05 million for the entire campaign.

The 2013 total was just over $1 million.

According to the Salvation Army, the final days of the 2014 campaign included filling crucial volunteer hours, a larger and unprecedented 4-day challenge match, several important local business challenge matches and an overwhelming surge of last-minute gifts from a variety of generous donors.
