Not Guilty Verdict in Jail Drug Smuggling Trial
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - One of the people charged with smuggling methamphetamine into the Olmsted County Jail last year has been acquitted.
An Olmsted County jury returned the not guilty verdict Thursday night in the case of 53-year-old Aaron Love. The Hammond man had been charged with third-degree drug sales involving allegations that he hid meth in wristwatches that were delivered to inmates of the county’s adult detention center.
The illegal drugs were discovered after members of the jail staff became suspicious about the number of detainees receiving wristwatches.
Two other people were charged in in the case and are currently scheduled to stand trial in April and May.
