Byron firefighters were called out into the cold weather early this morning.  A neighbor called 911 just after midnight to report a fire at a house at 716 4th avenue northwest.  Firefighters were able to bring it under control in about an hour but a crew was kept at the scene through the overnight hours due to scattered hot spots.

A spokesman for the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says it appears the house was a total loss.  The house is owned by Michelle and Todd Borchardt.  They were not there at the time.
