We've been transforming our unfinished basement into a beautiful master suite one day at a time. We are finally on to the closet. A giant open and empty space that will be ALL mine to fulfill my high maintenance needs. (Well, and my man's. But mostly mine...) Check out our progress.

I searched and searched Pinterest for DIY closet ideas. While I found a few that would work, the cost for the cheap-looking closet was just not up my alley. I wanted something unique! I have a huge obsession with antiques. I thought, what if we used old doors instead of that high priced wood that EVERYONE has?

We took that idea to Restore, the store that has SO many doors at a GREAT price, and it benefits Habitat for Humanity. (Which is a huge win, win!) During our search, a different idea surfaced. We found some old, off-white shutters. For just $20, I had FOUR ceiling height slabs of solid wood. BOOM!

As you can see, we put some rods in for hanging clothes. Our next step will be to add shelving and then paint. Also, you can see there's a regular shelf in there with dresser drawers on top. We will paint that to match the shutters, and build shelves between the two. The book shelf will become my shoe rack! Total cost to have what you see in the picture is less than $50!
