I had the opportunity to chat with a young lady who traveled to Tennessee a few years ago to try out for 'The Voice.' Well, this year, tryouts are being held in Minneapolis on Saturday, June 25, and she's ready to try again. Read about her amazing experience here.

Watching brave souls try out for the biggest singing competition show on TV is a blast. Imagine being that person, singing in front of God only knows how many people, including extremely successful artists... I'd pee my pants!

Last week a Facebook status caught my attention. It was that of a young lady who was going to try out! I got to chatting with her and discovered that she had tried out in the past. She was gracious enough to share her crazy experience with me!

At just 18 years old, Makayla Meyers of Plainview jumped in a car with her best friend and took the long road trip to Nashville. They arrived at Music City Center at 4:30 a.m. to join the already-huge crowd of people waiting to be the next "voice."

The contestants were split into groups of 12, and sent to audition rooms. Makayla said that in these rooms "there was one producer sitting at a table at the head of the room with chairs on each side of the room. She had all of our papers and randomly selected who was to sing first. When you are called you go stand in the center of the room and sing a song of your choice acapella. Once they have heard all they need to hear they said 'Thank you!' and you take your seat again."

Unfortunately, nobody in her group made it past the first round. She said that if you make it past the first producer, you sing in front of one more producer before walking out on stage to perform for Adam, Blake and the other judges.

Makayla is looking forward to trying out again! Even though it was a LONG day full of mixed nerves, the experience was very rewarding. She said she loved meeting people from all over the world with the same goal. We are rooting for you Makayla!

Here she is doing some good, old-fashioned karaoke to an Adele song. She nails the chorus!
