Frito-Lay says they are working with the FDA to make sure the recalled products are removed from store shelves as soon as possible.

The flavor that's being recalled is - my favorite flavor - Jalapeño Flavored Lay’s Kettle Cooked potato chips.

The chips are being recalled because the jalapeño seasoning used could contain Salmonella. The FDA explains: Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

No one has reported any illness due to the chips at this point and no other flavors are part of this recall.
