Producers Plan to Shoot Movie in Minnesota This Summer

If you've ever wanted to be in a major motion picture, you could get your chance this summer, as filmmakers are reportedly going to be shooting a movie in the Twin Cities.

According to a story in BringMeTheNews.com, producers of the film based on the novel, 'Wilson,' have been scouting locations in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, with plans to start filming the motion picture later this summer.

The story says, "According to The Hollywood Reporter, Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern are in negotiations to star in the Fox Searchlight movie about a grouchy, middle-aged loner who tries to rekindle a relationship with his ex-wife after learning he has a teenaged daughter."

The website also quotes Lucinda Winter, head of the  Minnesota Film and TV Board, who told the Pioneer Press, that, yes, the film's producers have been looking at locations in both Minneapolis and St. Paul.

“'I know they haven’t locked in all their locations, but they’ve been very happy with everything they’ve seen in St. Paul,' she said. Not since the Coen brothers made “A Serious Man” in 2009 has a major studio shot a movie in Minnesota, Winter tells the newspaper."

The story went on to say that Winter estimates the filming of “Wilson” will bring about $6 million worth of spending to the Twin Cities. Are you ready for your close-up?
