A Reddit user shared a picture of a sign in the window of Northville, Michigan’s George Senate Coney Island Restaurant.  The sign offered free Thanksgiving dinner to anyone who is home alone on Thanksgiving Day.

If there’s one day where it really feels awful to be alone it’s Thanksgiving, when most people are home stuffing their faces with turkey surrounded by family they love (and some they probably hate too).  Well, one restaurant in Northville, Michigan wants to make sure nobody has to eat alone on Turkey Day.

A person on Reddit posted a picture of a sign in the window of Northville’s George Senate Coney Island Restaurant which read, "George's Thanksgiving Day Dinner. If anyone is home alone, come eat with us for free! All day.  Thursday, November 26th."  Needless to say, the post quickly went viral.

The restaurant’s owner George Dimopoulos (see below) explained to a local news affiliate that he left his home in Athens when he was 12 and was at one time homeless, where he relied on the kindness of others to eat, so the free meal is his way of giving back.

In fact, it’s something he’s been doing at his restaurant for many years.  He says dozens of people usually take him up on his Thanksgiving offer, noting, "It makes my heart feel good to do it, and help a little bit."
