RFD Responds to Early Morning Fire Call

Rochester firefighters were sent to a residence in the 1900 block of 5th street southwest around 5 a.m. Tuesday after an electrical service box burst into flames.

The fire was limited to the service box.There was some light smoke damage in the basement, where the box is located.

The fire severed electrical service to the basement area, which left the furnace inoperable. The department used portable space heaters to partially restore heat to the residence.

Damage was estimated at $5,000.
