A Rochester Catholic Schools eighth-grader will represent the region in this year’s Scripp's National Spelling Bee in late May.

Christine Farnberg advanced to the prestigious competition in Washington D.C. Tuesday by correctly spelling Appalachian to win the 2015 Southeast Minnesota Spelling Bee sponsored by the Southeast Service Cooperative. Christine also won the contest in 2013 and was the 2nd Runner-Up last year.

Another Rochester Catholic Schools eighth-grader, Teresa Nowakowski, was the 1st Runner-Up this year, while the brother of last years champion, Pacelli School 7th grader Shenali DeSilva is this year’s 2nd Runner-Up.
