Rochester Area ‘Violent’ Drug Dealer Sent Back to Prison

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man who was arrested after a drug bust in Oronoco last year has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Police arrested 32-year-old Brig Kough after finding nearly a pound of methamphetamine and $2500 in cash in a home at 2586 Lake Shady Avenue South in Oronoco. Police suspected Kough was involved in the sale of large quantities of meth.

While in jail after his arrest, court records show he made several phone call s“encouraging several individuals to not provide any additional statements to law enforcement.”

A woman told police Kough assaulted her former boyfriend while she was visiting the victim who was also in jail. The woman says Kough assaulted the other man with a chair and a telephone. The woman suspected Kough assaulted the man to send her a message “so she would see what would happen to her if she testified in their case.” The woman described Kough as “a monster.”

Kough was later charged with the assault and for tampering with a witness. Those cases were dismissed as part of a plea deal in the drug case.

Court records show Kough has a lengthy criminal history in the Rochester area that includes two convictions for first-degree aggravated robbery and three for simple robbery. He was sentenced to over 4-years in prison for the aggravated robbery convictions in 2006 and given a 3 ½ year sentence in 2011 for his simple robbery convictions.
