Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man suffered a head injury after he was hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle Tuesday.

Police say 59-year-old Jerry Swank was riding near the intersection of 7th St and 17th Ave NW around 7:00 AM when he was hit.

The vehicle was driven by 39-year-old William Hayes of Mazeppa, who told officers he didn’t see the bicycle because the sun was in his eyes. Police also say Swank had been riding on a sidewalk and was struck when he rode onto the street.

Swank struck his head and was knocked out for awhile. He was taken by ambulance to St. Marys Hospital where he was reported in fair condition Wednesday.

Hayes was not issued a ticket.
