This summer, she'll put on her boots and train a group of hikers to head 25.5 miles on the Superior Hiking Trail in just one day.

The amazing Margaret Fenlon (a local bone marrow donor) long ago made a friend that lost his son to cancer. The teen's name was Will Dickes.

Margaret has raised awareness for childhood cancer numerous times before, but Will's passing hit her personally. A press release explains, "It isn’t the first time she’s done something big to fight children’s cancer – she’s participated in the CureSearch Ultimate Hike several times. Since last year’s event, she’s also donated bone marrow to a cancer patient, all because she watched a friend’s son fight leukemia." She's also donated bone marrow herself to a patient in need.

The press release additionally revealed just how much she and her team of support have had an impact on fighting childhood cancer. It states, "The funds raised by Team Rochester support lifesaving research driven by CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, an organization that focuses on breaking down barriers that prevent research progress to find less-toxic treatments for children’s cancer. [...] Team Rochester has raised $75,000 to help end children’s cancer in the past three years."

There was always the hope that a hiking team would be put together in honor of Will to raise awareness for childhood cancer. This year, she's proud to announce that she's taking a team of hikers to task and kicking cancer's butt!

25.5 miles is a BIG task. I get it. I'm a hiker too. However, I couldn't imagine a better cause to completely wipe myself out for!

Those interested in joining Margaret can attend an informational meeting that fits their schedule. A press release announced an "Information meeting on Wednesday, May 23 at Scheels at Apache Mall at 7 p.m., or Thursday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rochester Athletic Club.
