It was just a couple weeks ago that Uber made a huge announcement suggesting the company was seriously considering coming to Rochester. The idea has been hit and miss with many locals, but one man is very against it. He's started a petition to keep the company out of Rochester. Here's the details.

Michael Kleiber, who according to KTTC, has been a cab driver off and on since 2004, has created an online petition, in hopes of gaining enough signatures to ban Uber from coming to Rochester. As of now the petition only has 50 signatures.

On his petition he goes into further detail, but he says "UBER is not safe for our community. UBER doesn't follow rules. UBER is unfair and unsafe."

According to City Attorney Terry Adkins, the main concern with having Uber in Rochester is the current taxi cab ordinance that's in place. The ordinance requires companies to have 15 vehicles, but Uber doesn't own the vehicles. Its drivers use their own vehicles and are treated as independent contractors, not employees. Adkins says Uber has submitted proposed ordinance changes that would address the situation. The decision of whether Uber will come to Rochester should be made in the next couple months. How do you feel about it?
