Rochester Family Spied on After Their Personal Webcam Was Hacked

The Med City Beat is reporting about a Rochester family that contacted police on Wednesday night after hearing music playing from their web cam. Authorities tracked the strange activity to an IP address in Amsterdam. The footage captured was being shared on a website that posts webcam photos from unsuspecting victims around the world.

According to the Med City Beat story, Capt. John Sherwin of the Rochester Police Department said it's virtually impossible to pursue anonymous hackers.  He offered this advice to protect yourself "You have to change the factory password, and you have to change it frequently."
