Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge and gross misdemeanor child neglect for an incident at a Twin Cities hotel last summer. In exchange for the guilty pleas, prosecutors in Dakota County dropped a child endangerment charge against 40-year-old Michael John Alexander.

He was arrested last June 29th after an Eagan police officer responded to a hotel where an employee discovered a young child crying at the front desk around one in the morning. According to police reports, the employee located the room registered to the four-year-old girl’s parents and found an even younger child sleeping on the floor and Alexander on the bed. The employee told police Alexander appeared to be under the influence of drugs and the responding officer later found a bag containing a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine and over $2500 cash.

Alexander, who previously had an Elgin address, is scheduled to be sentenced on August 11th.
