Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man has entered into a plea agreement to charges stemming from a fatal shooting in August.

31-year-old Abdulkadir Omar Mohamed went before Olmsted County Judge Kathy Wallace Thursday and admitted to a 2nd Degree manslaughter charge. In exchange, a 2nd degree murder charge and two other charges were dropped.

Mohamed was accused of fatally shooting 31-year-old Abdullahi Omar Sheikh while the victim was driving on 2nd Street Southwest near St. Mary's hospital. Rochester police say Mohamed was handling a handgun in the back seat of the car when the weapon discharged and sent a bullet through the driver seat and into Sheikh's upper torso. The car he was driving came to a stop after it went up on the curb and struck a signpost across the street from the hospital.

Mohamed, who had been scheduled to stand trial next week, is now scheduled to be sentenced on February 15th.
