Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The man arrested last Friday as the suspect in a near-fatal stabbing was formally charged Monday with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault.

Conditional bail for 22-year-old Thane Robinson was set at $500,000. He was arrested a few hours after a 41-year-old man was dropped off at St. Mary’s Hospital last Thursday night. Officials indicated the victim was near death when doctors began treating him, but he is expected to survive. The criminal complaint says the man was stabbed twice in the chest and four times in the back during an altercation at a residence near the North Broadway McDonald’s restaurant.

Earlier the same day, a teenager stabbed a 29-year-old man in the upper chest outside a residence near the Miracle Mile Shopping Center. The man survived the attack and the teenager was arrested, but later released without being charged as it appears he was acting in self defense.
