Police say 24-year-old Joseph Martin held the woman against her will at their Rochester residence last month after the two had a falling out. She told investigators Martin both physically and sexually assaulted her. He was arrested the next day after she convinced him to go to a nearby business and witnesses came to her aid after seeing Martin assaulting her in their car.

He entered a guilty plea to a 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct charge earlier this month.
Another Rochester man who carried out a brutal attack on his live-in girlfriend last year has pleaded guilty and is facing an expected prison sentence. The woman says 43-year-old Daniel Tompkins choked her so hard she coughed up blood. Under the plea agreement, he is expected to receive an eight year prison sentence.
