Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police are investigating what is being described as an apparent armed robbery.

Officers were sent to the Holiday Store near the 19th Street Northwest interchange on Highway 52 Saturday evening in response to a 911 call about an apparent robbery involving a gun in the business’ parking lot.

An 18-year-old man told the officers he was leaving the store when he was approached by a black male in his mid-20's, who requested a ride. The teenager reported the man got into the backseat of his car and pulled out a gun. Thinking he was being robbed, the victim tossed his wallet at the man, who exited the car and fled on foot.

The teenager told police he followed the man for an unknown distance and saw him drop his wallet on the ground. A spokesman says the victim checked the wallet and did not find anything missing.
