A Rochester man charged with assaulting an ex-girlfriend last year has been sentenced to prison.

35 year old Tracy Brooks pleaded guilty Friday to a 3rd degree assault charge and was given a 33 month sentence.

Police were called to an apartment building along Northern Hills Drive last November and found Brooks attacking the woman by striking her and kicking her in the head. He fled from the apartment by breaking a window, and while the officers were pursuing him, Brooks circled around and came back to the apartment where the officers found him standing over the victim with a knife.  A Taser had to be used to subdue Brooks.
