Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Parks Department is getting ready to start work on a master plan.

There is concern about the growing demands being placed on the department as the city grows. On Tuesday, the Park Board directed staff to seek funding from the City Council to help pay for a comprehensive study and master plan. The estimated cost is between $120,000 - $200,000.

Also during Tuesday’s’s meeting, some board members  discussed what they feel is a lack of funding for the department’s capital improvement program. Some board members feel the amount of money the City Council has approved in recent years falls far short of maintaining the existing infrastructure and future needs.

Their concerns are expected to be discussed during an upcoming meeting with the City Council.
