Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man described by Rochester police as a “prolific offender” is in custody again.

Officers spotted 24 year old Andre Dee driving a vehicle Thursday and because he doesn’t have a driver’s license, he was followed to a southeast neighborhood.

Police Captain John Sherwin says Dee parked the car in the area of 7th Ave and 11th Street SE around 12:45 p.m. and began walking away. When he saw the officers, he took off running and dropped a backpack. One of the officers caught up with Dee and pulled out his gun, ordering him to show his hands. Sherwin says Dee ignored the command and began reaching under his jacket, while yelling at the officer to shoot him. Dee then fled to a nearby residence in the 1100 block of 5th Ave SE and refused to come out.

Officers eventually called Dee’s lawyer to the site of the standoff and he was able to get him to surrender about an hour later.

Dee is now facing drug and other charges.

Officers found nearly 2 pounds of marijuana in the backpack.

Court records show numerous cases against Dee dating back to 2010.
