Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Several Rochester police officers were called out Thursday night to deal with a large family feud.

A police spokesman says the incident took place at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of 41 St NW, near Essex park.

The incident began as a dispute between a 42-year-old woman and her daughter’s 24-year-old female friend. The younger woman went to the mother’s apartment around 10:30 p.m. and confronted her. As the confrontation escalated, some of the older woman’s other children intervened. The younger woman had a container of pepper spray and used it on the family members, forcing them to go outside to get fresh air. That’s when police were notified.

The spokesman says the woman who started the incident was gone when officers arrived.  Some of those who were sprayed were treated at the scene while firefighters ventilated the apartment.

Charges may be filed against some of those involved in the incident.
