Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police officers were busy over the weekend dealing with three reported shootings.

The first was reported around 9:30 p.m. Friday night near the RCTC campus. Witnesses told police several shots were fired between two cars near the intersection of 8 ½ Street and 21st Avenue SE. It does not appear anyone was hit and there were no reports of property damage.

The second incident occurred Saturday morning at the Oak Terrace mobile home park along Marion Road. A 51-year-old Faribault man went to the hospital after being hit by shotgun pellets in both legs. A residence at the park had also been shot. Police Captain John Sherwin says the man refused to cooperate and at last report, investigators were not sure what happened. The shooting apparently happened between 9 and 10 a.m.

The third incident was reported around 7 p.m. Sunday night at a residence in the 1500 block of 4th Ave SE. A spokesman says a 52-year-old man who dozed off with a loaded .22 caliber handgun in his lap was hurt after the weapon discharged and the bullet went through his left hand and leg. He was taken to St. Mary’s for treatment. The man told police he keeps the gun loaded at all times for security reasons.
