Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Light snow fell across the Rochester area Wednesday night and early Thursday, the first measureable flakes of the season.

It barely lasted but the snow recorded at the Rochester airport tied a record for the date. The National Weather Service says the total was two tenths of an inch, tying the record that was set in 1933.

A snow storm also affected a high school boys soccer playoff game north of the Twin Cities Wednesday night. Hermantown and Faribault had to deal with periods of blinding snow,a slick playing surface and temperatures in the lower 30’s in the game played at Chisago High School in Lindstrom.

Faribault tied the game with just over a minute to go, sending it into overtime. The game eventually was extended into two overtime periods, followed by an eight round shootout that was finally won by Faribault.
