Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Authorities say a Rochester woman who crashed her car while driving drunk with five young kids in the vehicle was also found breastfeeding her baby before she was taken into custody.

Rochester Police Sgt. Jon Turk was off duty when he spotted the woman driving erratically on Highway 52 near Oronoco Saturday afternoon and began following her. He saw her vehicle hit a guardrail and then exit at 75th St, apparently because of a flat tire.

Turk notified the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and went to the car to make sure the woman did not leave. That’s when he found her breastfeeding her baby.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and a test found she had a blood/alcohol level of .17. The children  - all under the age of ten - were taken to St. Marys Hospital to be checked out.

The woman has been identified as 40-year-old Tasha Schleicher

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kirby Long says besides the five kids in the car, Schleicher had five more at home.
