Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an unusual traffic accident involving a woman who was hurt when her car was rear-ended by a motorcycle.

A patrol deputy spotted the woman sitting in her car on the side of County Road 11 around 10:00 PM Tuesday. The 45-year-old woman was complaining of a sore neck and headache. She told the deputy she was driving about 50 mph when her car was hit by the motorcycle. She went to St. Marys Hospital to be checked out.

The deputy located the crashed motorcycle nearby and learned its owner had called 911 to report the crash. The man had been given a ride from the scene by a friend. The deputy met with 34-year-old Nicholas Hanson who said he had no memory of the crash. Hanson said he lost control of the motorcycle when he drove over some gravel right before the wreck.

The deputy suspected Hanson was under the influence of a controlled substance and took him into custody.
